Presentation of Cadmos

On August 27, 2009, both State councils of Canton de Vaud and Geneva announce their support for the opening of a regional HPC center - CADMOS (Center for Advanded Modeling Science) - involving the Universities of Geneva (UNIGE) and Lausanne (UNIL) and the Ecole polytechnique fédérale de Lausanne (EPFL). CADMOS will launch new researchs in simulations and modeling in many fields. CADMOS was created under the leadership of CICS (Communité Lémanique de l'innovation Culturelle et scientifique) and is part of the Swiss HPC strategy: one very large and national sized computer in Lugano (CSCS) and 2-3 other regional machines.

What we'll develop

CADMOS therefore aims to develop a long-term expertise in computational science, HPC and modelization of large and complex systems. During the past 4 years, new chairs in partner institutions have been created under the CADMOS flag. Therefore: building synergy, encouragement of innovative projects, establishment of an appropriate education program in compuational science and engineering are the key points.
